Hi again

Blog? What's that??
OK.....So, what's new?
What isn't new??? It's been over a month.

Jake turned 10 months old yesterday.
At his 9 month check up he weighed 22 lbs. 10 oz. He was 28 3/4 inches long.
He goes to see the neurologist on Monday morning to see what he thinks about his head. It has made some good improvement. He had his head re scanned and I got to see the progress.

Nick's baseball season has started. It's rough. His team is all new to machine pitch. So, we have been getting killed. Nick is doing well, but it still stinks. He is the hitting champ for this event called Pitch, Hit & Run. He advances to the sectional competition which is May 29th in Oak Park. He still has to do all 3 things even though he won for hitting.
I can't believe he will be turning 8 soon. Man is he getting big. We are scaling back on the parties now that he is older. Were just going to have cake and ice cream with immediate family and we are going to take him and a few friends to Bottom of the 9th where they will put on a baseball party for him.

Jake's 1st birthday is creeping around the corner already. I have some cool plans for that.

Lukas is cute as can be. He gets out of school on June 1st. He is into baseball and wrestling. He likes the wrestlers on the WWE wrestling games on XBox. he always makes us call him "Mysterio or big daddy".
He is such a little ham.

Hope seems a little better, but not much. She is living on a low dose of prednisone every other morning. She still wants to run and play, but she makes me nervous.

That's about it for the short version.
See you next month soon.

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a good Easter. Ours was nice. Lukas really got into the egg hunt this year. Nick always enjoys the holidays and for Jake it was business as usual...except with more people around.

I really am slacking on this blog and I am probably writing to myself at this point...LOL
 Here are some Easter pics.....

Update

What in the hell was I thinking?
I can't believe I thought I could blog daily. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......haaaaa
Oh...sorry. I was just thinking out loud.

Hope is doing fine, but we have yet to see any improvements. I called the doctor on Thursday and he said not many dogs see improvements in week 1. I am suppose to leave her neck wrap on and call him back in 2 weeks.
Hopefully she will have a neck wrap by then. The cotton keeps falling out all over the place. I feel like I should follow her around with a hand held vacuum.

Life is crazy busy as always. I am on the PTO at Nick's school and we are wrapping up our fundraiser. A Read-A-Thon. Thanks to all of you who donated! I have to go to the school early and count money and collect forms. Then tonight after dinner, getting 3 kids to bed and aerobics....I will tally up all of the results and make 12 Luau themed baskets. WHEW.

Jake had his helmet adjusted last week and then the next day it left huge red welts on his little forehead. We went back in and had it adjusted again and it seems better. Here are a couple pictures of him.

Nick finished his basketball season and got invited to play in a tournament this weekend with older kids. 8-10 yr olds. He wants to do it, so we will give it a try. We have all of our Easter Egg events this Saturday too, so we may be a split family and meet up at the tournament later. It's also LCN Baseball day at Dick's sporting goods and Eddie has to pick up his team equipment. He is coaching Nick's team again. This is his first year of machine pitch. Should be fun.

I read last week at Nick's school as a mystery reader and this week I am going to read for Lukas' class and 2 other classes. I am also having Easter dinner at my house and GNO is making homemade pierogi's at my house the following week. I am also planning a surprise for someone.......but I am not sure why I can't blog daily. ....Now if you will excuse me I need to get Lukas to go potty, get his shoes and coat on, get Jake changed and in his car seat...get them both in the car to go pick up a Rx...go to the bank and then to Nick's school to do the PTO stuff and pick up Nick and the 2 other kids I drive home.......maybe I can finish this post later......LOL

Hope's Trip

Our day started early. Which sucked because I was up until 12:30 am and got back up at 2:30.
We were out the door by 3:10 am.
Eddie started as our driver since he is usually  up until 7:30 am anyways. He grabbed a Tim Horton's coffee and we headed to Indiana.
Hope was calm and slept most of the way. I wish I could say the same. I was tossing and turning and then we ran into some heavy rain and lightning. Plus it was uncomfortable, but oh well!
We made good time and arrived around 7:30....just when the doctor and his staff were going in. We waited in the car until 8 am. I had to change and get my contacts in!
Hope would not go bathroom and we gave up and finally took her in. She was very skiddish and not happy to be there. She is like that normally at our Vet too.
We took her in back and helped put her on the table where she was sedated so they could take an X-ray. She fell over like a huge sack of potatoes and her tongue stuck out of her mouth.
It made me think of when we had to put Kobe & Shaq down. It almost made me cry seeing her like that.
We went back and waited in the room. The Doc came in and showed us the X-Ray as he explained everything that was going on. He confirmed it was Wobblers.

So, we headed back to the car. We didn't have to be back to pick her up until 1 pm and it was barely 9am.
We could tell we were in a low income area and they said there wasn't much to do around there.
I got behind the wheel and headed to McDonald's. I needed to use their bathroom to freshen up.
I got an Egg McMuffin (8 points) and some fruit. I sat in the restaurant and was surrounded by the cotton tops! It was either a weekly meeting or this is the local morning crowd. They were all cute....except for the one that opened his door too far and hit our car. He acted like he didn't even do it. Or he just didn't care. We were in the car.too!
Eddie was trying to catch a couple of Zzzzzzz's.
I headed back to the vets parking lot and watched the last disc of Modern Family Season 1. That's some funny stuff.  Eddie decided that he wanted lunch around 12 and looked up....Japanese steakhouse...what else?
Oddly enough there was one right down the road. They didn't cook in front of you, but it was the same type of food. We ate there and headed over to the tiny mall...if you want to call it that. Eddie got some sunglasses for his big red eye. By then it was time to head back to pick her up.

They put us back in the same room and we waited for Hope to come in. She walked in and looked at us like she was not happy with us! She had her big neck wrap on and was shaved to the shoulders. The good news was that she got up right away and did walk on her own. The Doc went over everything and we loaded up the car and headed to Beverly Clinton Twp. She was uncomfortable. She couldn't figure out how to lay down with that thing on. I tried to help her, but she ended up laying with her head up the whole way home. Poor baby. She didn't whine though. She just laid there and I think she slept like that too.
She came out and sat by Eddie

Walking to the car to go home

I think she is mad.

This is how she was sleeping on the landing at home!

We made it home by about 6 pm I think. It was a long and exhausting trip, but hopefully it will be worth it.

Getting Nervous

Today is a busy day.
Hope still needs a bath and her ears cleaned.

I did manage to take her to get her nails trimmed yesterday even though I got really sick. It hit me out of nowhere. I was feeling fine and the next thing you know I was running for the toilet. I think I had a bug. I got sick and was finally able to lay down around 1:30 only after prodding Eddie to wake up. I wanted to lay down at 10 am, but I stuck it out so he could get some more sleep.
I also need to get her cage cleaned up and rearrange the car to fit it in. I will be making it nice and comfy for her. Lots of blankets and some pillows. I really hope she can make the ride back after the procedure.
I need to get everything ready for the kids as well. Eddie's mom is coming to spend the night and hold down the fort while we are gone all day tomorrow. My mom will be bringing them dinner in the evening.
Wish us luck and pray for Hope!

Wobbler's Week

Well, this Thursday is the big day for Hope...and a long day for us.
She needs her nails trimmed and a bath before we go as well. Today we are getting new tires on the minivan courtesy of a good friend who got us a great deal.
We are going to have to fold down the 2 middle seats and put her condo huge cage in there. We need to make it all plump and cozy so she will be comfy on the way home.
Keep Hope in your prayers please. We hope this works for her because we can't afford to really do anything else. Surgery is big bucks and has a lower success rate.

Week 6 and 7

Before I list these 2 weeks, I have to say that I just made the appointment to take our baby girl Hope in for
a "Gold Bead Implant". It is a procedure to help with Wobbler's Disease.
We will be driving her to Indiana to have this procedure done. We will have to leave at 3 am to get there by 8 am. They will do an X-Ray to confirm it is Wobblers and then go ahead with the implanting of the gold beads right after. She should be done by 1 or 1:30 and then we will be heading back home with her.
It will be a long day!
Pray for us and her on this short trip for a long happy life after!
WEEK 6: I did some crockpot recipes

MONDAY- Cheesy Crockpot Chicken
TUESDAY- Crockpot Vegetable Pasta
WEDNESDAY- Easy Hearty Turkey Chili
THURSDAY-Leftovers
FRIDAY- Frankfurters with Macaroni & Cheese

The best one out of these recipes was the Easy hearty Turkey Chili. I thought the kids would like the mac n cheese....not so much. I wasn't a fan of it either.

WEEK7:

MONDAY- Baked Pork Chops w/ Pot & Veg
TUESDAY- Beef & Vegetable Chili
WEDNESDAY- Cola Chicken
THURSDAY- Chicken & Broccoli Casserole
FRIDAY- Leftovers

Week 7 had a winner...it was the chicken & broccoli casserole. Compliments of Skinnytaste.com

As you can see we are making a lot of the same recipes. Those are either requested by Eddie or myself because they were good!!
My fav is the beef & veggie chili. Eddie is loving the kielbasa, pot, cabbage stew. I have to triple the recipes for lunches the next day and sometimes even dinners.

Eddie is down about 37 pounds now. He looks so skinny...and good. Great job honey!
Im stuck at the 15 lb mark, but I am upping my workouts from 2 days a week to 5........so lets see how it goes!
